Welcome to New Zealand

TNZI is headquartered in New Zealand. Ours is a small country, with only 4.5 million people. That drives a remarkable attitude: to be innovators, to deliver excellence, to be welcoming and friendly.

Environment.

New Zealand is famed for its environment. Soaring mountains, sparkling lakes, dense forests and rugged coastlines make for some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The country is an outdoors playground for water and action sports. The importance of the natural environment sees many New Zealand organisations playing important roles in environmental understanding and action.

Culture.

The indigenous people of New Zealand (Aotearoa) are the Māori, who make up around 15 percent of the population. As a whole, New Zealand is genuinely multi-cultural, including some 69% of the population European New Zealanders, 9% Asian New Zealanders, 15% Māori New Zealanders, and 7% Polynesian New Zealanders.

Sport.

For its population, New Zealand has one of the world's most successful sporting records. From Jack Lovelock winning the 1500 metres in the 1936 Olympics, to Edmund Hillary's breakthrough ascent of Everest in 1953, to the All Blacks, to Sarah Ulmer winning the 3000m track cycling pursuit in the 2004 Olympics, to America's Cup wins, to numerous wins in recent World Championship rowing regattas - New Zealand athletes perform on the world stage.

Business.

New Zealand's economy was founded on agriculture. Today, numerous businesses export fresh and processed products to the global market. The country is the world's number one dairy exporter. In recent years New Zealand has become a significant player in new technologies.

Film.

New Zealand was immortalised in film as Middle Earth in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Many other films have been filmed in New Zealand. Over the last 10 years, New Zealanders have won in excess of 17 Oscars.
